Exploring tomorrows to reframe todays
We provoke unexpected perspectives on global challenges and emerging technologies
People approach us not to build a business case or to showcase a technological solution, but to actively experiment with alternative visions for their organization. For instance, we created a city map of Geneva from the future in collaboration with local authorities to kickstart a public dialogue on urban policy and the future of autonomous vehicles.
We produce knowledge by creating ’things'
Our creations take the form of prototypes, publications and provocations which make people think. They offer knowledge and know-how on global challenges and emerging technologies. For instance, we are known as pioneers of Design Fiction, a practice which combines local observations with global weak signals and prototyping techniques to create popular objects accessible to anyone. We co-authored The Manual of Design Fiction a guide to that practice, its origins, its utility and its impact.
We blend the mindsets and skillsets of social sciences, data science, engineering and design
From the digitization of cities to the implications of environmental changes, we believe that the more we are able to hear each other and think together, the better our future will be. We navigate between languages and we cross disciplinary boundaries like social sciences, data science, engineering, art and design to create knowledge.
